ABOUT US

BETHLEHEM WORSHIP CENTER

We find joy sharing with you the history of our church past, present and future.  156 years ago, this church was organized just south of Dumas, under the leadership of Reverend Underwood.  After many years at its original location the membership were moved to Walnut Lake, just a short distance from the lake's bank.

From the birth of this church through 1913 there have been some great men serving as Pastor.  Many deacons have served the church and its Pastors to help the ministry move smoothly and efficiently.

In 1996, an anointed Man and Women of God were sent to the church by the name of Pastor Timothy Jones and wife Lady Linda Jones, two people spiritually filled with the Holy Spirit.  Under their leadership the church has grown tremendously.  By keeping the faith and trusting in God, the main concern of this ministry is that of souls being saved through Jesus Christ.

God has placed in position as deacons and helpers for the Pastor and the present ministry Deacons Theotis Hilson Sr., Theotis Hilson Jr., Anderson Holmes, Kevin Tanner, Carl Griswold, Arthur Griswold, Herman Cobbs and their wives.  Our goal and purpose is to minister to the whole man.  We are equipped to minister in these areas as our ministries include:  Christian Women Council, Clothing Ministry, an anointed Dance Ministry, Food Pantry, Music Ministry, New Members Orientation, Nurses Ministry, Outreach Ministry, Ushers and Greeters, Women Intercessory, Youth Ministry, and Young People Willing Workers.

For many years the church was called the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, then in 2003 a move and a calling upon the ministry was taken to a higher level in the service of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be a church for all that would come regardless of denomination.  The change was made and we become the Bethlehem Worship Center, a non-denominational church.

In January of 2006 we moved into our new edifice located on Highway 65 north, measuring app. 26,000 sq. ft.  which includes ten classrooms, many office spaces, multi-purpose room, conference room, suite, youth activity room with basketball and games, state of the art sound system, nursery, large kitchen, and more.

In August 2009, Bethlehem Worship Center Church became the proud owners of the old Dan Tan Building, with vision and prayer there will be much needed community outreach programs available for he public.  Its name, "The Light Community Outreach Center"  which is the present location of our Clothing Ministry, the center will service many in the Southeast Arkansas area.

In December of 2012, the church purchased 30 acres of property just south of the church on Highway 65.  In May of 2013, 7 years after moving into our new location, God blessed us to pay-off the church.  In honor of this great accomplishment the church held a mortgage burning celebration like none other.

In October 2014 former members returned for a Homecoming Picnic.  People came form near and far to join in "A Time of Celebration" including Government Officials, Singer and Grammy Award winner, VaShawn Mitchell, and Bishop Frank Anderson Jr., Prelate who gave the address.  The ministry continues to grow.

In December of 2013 the church acquired 27 more acres of land to the north of the present location on highway 65 near the City of Mitchellville.  God has truly been good to us!  We know that this is only the beginning of what God has in store for this ministry and its people.  On June 23, 2015 a Letter of Acceptance was sent to the Honorable Bishop Frank J. Anderson Jr., Prelate of Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Arkansas.  Bethlehem Worship Center Church officially became known as the Bethlehem Worship Center Church of God in Christ.  We give God all the glory as He continues to do great and marvelous things.
